Kyrgyzstan itinerary – in 10 days
Bishkek:
Of course, thanks to the large airport, most of the journey starts in the capital of Kyrgyzstan: Bishkek. With 900,000 inhabitants, it is the largest metropolis in the Central Asian country. Nevertheless, 1 to 2 days are enough for this rather large city, as it was founded only after 1880 and offers so few historical monuments. But the panorama is impressive: behind the city rise 5000 meter high mountains, on which there is snow even in the middle of summer. The Ala Acha National Park, a popular hiking and skiing area, is less than an hour away.
Issyk Kul:
From Bishkek, the road to Karakol, on the almost 5 hour drive, takes 2 hours on Issyk Kul alone. The journey on this road is also a dream. On one side the mountains – on the other the lake. The northern side of the Issyk Kul, in particular, is very popular with bathing tourists. That is why the hotels are lined up here and there can be a lot of people, especially in summer.
The southern side of the lake, on the other hand, has been spared the large hotel buildings. You can spend the night here in private guesthouses. A tip is the Tosor place. Here there is a beautiful beach and access to crystal clear water. You can stay here for at least 2-3 days.
The Skazka canyon:
Only a few kilometres away from Tosor – and also placed on the road Bishkek – Karokol on the southside, is the Skazka canyon. It is nicknamed the “Fairytale Canyon” because with a bit of imagination you are supposed to recognize fairy tale characters in the contours of the mountains.
Karakol:
This is the last stop of your Kyrgyzstan itinerary. Once here, you can easily reach many mountains by taxi and bus. For example, you can go hiking in the valley of Altyn Arashan. The beautiful turquoise mountain lake Ala Kul is also easy to reach. Here you can, among other things, take a ride on horseback. Absolutely recommendable, as well as an overnight stay in yurts. The successful conclusion of the 10-day itinerary to Kyrgyzstan!
