Traditional and national cuisine is one of the interesting themes to explore during traveling in other countries. We invite you to taste traditional food in Kyrgyzstan, try to cook it together with a local hostess and share with recipes. That would be a new challenge to bake bread Kyrgyz Nan, pull home-made noodles for Lagman and chop meat for Beshbarmak.  However, modern Kyrgyz food is a mixture of traditional, Central Asian, Russian and Western Cuisine. ROUTE

Early morning transfer from Bishkek to Chong-Kemin valley. Visit Burana Tower on the way, famous Minaret dated from IX-X century, the main trading center of Karakhanid Dynasty on the Great Silk Road. Meet with a local family. Lunch. The afternoon starts cooking Kyrgyz Nan – traditional bread, as villagers get accustomed to baking it. Parallel start make preparations for cooking Kuurdak (meat dish roasted by potato and spices) for Dinner.

Breakfast with the family. Morning 1-2 hours horseback riding at the territory of the National Park Chong-Kemin. Transfer to Tamchy, a village at the northern shore of the Issyk-Kol Lake. Lunch. Afternoon we will start preparations for Boorsok, traditional fried dough food. For this day dinner, we will cook Kulchotai (Gulchotai) – Kyrgyz favorite food made of meat, vegetables, and home-made pasta. Family dinner. Accommodation at guesthouse.

Breakfast at the guesthouse. Transfer to Karakol town. On the way visit Cholpon-Ata town with the local ethnographical museums. Lunch at a cafe „U Rybaka“ with fresh fish soup. The afternoon after meeting your family, we will start cooking Central Asian food Lagman ( homemade pulled noodles with vegetable and meat soup) for dinner. Tea time. Accommodation at guesthouse.

Today we will have a day tour to Altyn-Arashan Hot Springs, part by old Russian Jeep UAZ and part by trekking. Picnic lunch at high mountain Plato Altyn-Arashan. Late afternoon transfer back to Karakol. Dinner with Dungan family. Accommodation at guesthouse.

Transfer to the village at the South shore of the Issyk-Kul Lake. On the way visit famous Jety-Oguz Gorge. Lunch. In Barskoon village we will cook Manty (Dumplings) for tonight. Dinner and accommodation with a local family.

Morning transfer to Kochkor village. This day we will cook Besh Barmak – Kyrgyz National dish, translated as „five fingers“ because nomads eat this dish with hands. Fresh boiled meat, chopped, added with homemade thin noodles and boiled sauce with spices and onions. Family dinner. Accommodation at guesthouse.

Early morning transfer to Bishkek. In Bishkek meet the local chief and visit a cooking club. Share with ideas. Visit local Osh bazaar. City tour in Bishkek. Farewell dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

  • Be aware of pickpockets and strangers at bazaars and streets.
  • If someone asking for documents, wallets or cameras, saying that they are from the police, ask them to go police together.
  • Never give your belongings to strangers.
  • Wear good hiking shoes for outdoor activities.
  • Bring warm waterproof clothes even in summer.
  • Have your torch sunscreen and repellent.
  • Do not drink very cold water from unknown sources.
  • Drinking alcohol at high altitudes is unsafe.
  • If the food fat or not acceptable for you can taste a bit and say thanks.
