In Bishkek, with the participation of Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic Mederbek Tumanov, the national forum ‘ECO-Chatkal 2035’ was held. The event was dedicated to discussing the initiative to launch a national label pilot, as well as mechanisms for climate financing in the Chatkal district. The forum brought together representatives of state bodies, international organizations, financial institutions, business community, and expert environment. During the event, scientific-analytical justifications, the institutional model of the label pilot, and key economic directions for the development of the Chatkal district in the fields of energy, agriculture, small and medium-sized businesses, tourism, and creative industries were presented.
In his speech, Mederbek Tumanov emphasized that the Chatkal district has significant potential to become one of the leading centers of ecotourism, a supplier of environmentally clean agricultural products, and one of the leaders in the field of green energy.
In turn, the akim of the Chatkal district, Altynbek Senirbayev, continued the topic of ecotourism development and renewable energy sources. According to him, work has currently begun on the construction of a hydroelectric power station with an installed capacity of 160 MW.
The key outcome of the forum was the agreement on the draft final resolution containing a consolidated proposal for the launch of the national label pilot and the application of climate financing tools.
The forum confirmed high interest from the state and international partners in the development of the Chatkal district as a model for sustainable development of mountainous territories of the Kyrgyz Republic.
