Kyrgyzstan to Host World Nomad Games 2026 — A Global Celebration of Nomadic Heritage

BISHKEK — Kyrgyzstan will host the VI World Nomad Games from  31 August to 6 September 2026, organizers have confirmed. The opening ceremony will take place in Bishkek, with the main competitions and closing events held in the Issyk-Kul region, including Cholpon-Ata and other cultural venues.

Organizers expect participants and delegations from around the world, with traditional horseback sports such as kok-boru and kokpar, ethnic wrestling, archery, hunting-related competitions and other nomadic disciplines featured throughout the week-long program.

In recent press briefings, officials highlighted new cultural and competitive elements in the 2026 program, alongside significant investment in hosting infrastructure and support for artists, athletes, and designers — including a competition for parade uniform designs for the opening ceremony.

The World Nomad Games are known as one of the world’s largest festivals of nomadic culture, bringing together ancient traditions, sport, music, crafts, and community celebration
