The alternative North-South highway, construction of which began in 2014, has been opened for the first time along its entire length for traffic until November 2026. This involves the opening of the tunnel, next to which anti-avalanche galleries and bridges are currently being built. Traffic through the tunnel is allowed during daytime — from 06:00 to 20:00. According to the Ministry of Transport, the road is opened to reduce the load on the main transport routes during the tourist season.
