Kyrgyzstan ski touring for skiers who want snow, not queues. In 8 days you ski five days in the Tien Shan: the quiet Yrdyk valley above Karakol with a night in a heated yurt camp, the Turgen mountains, two full days around Jyrgalan – the country’s best-known touring base – and a high session on the 4,000 m Arabel plateau. Expect cold, dry continental powder, 600–1,200 m of climbing a day and almost no other groups. Your local guide chooses each day’s slopes by snow, weather and avalanche conditions. Evenings are in warm village guesthouses with home-cooked food.
The price is calculated individually: it depends on group size, dates and accommodation level. Send a request and we will prepare an offer for your group.

Snow and safety
Ski touring in Kyrgyzstan is still young: there is no avalanche bulletin and no mountain rescue on the slopes. Your guide chooses each day’s zone and line by snowpack, weather and the group’s level, and the plan can change at short notice. The Arabel session on day 7 only takes place in good weather. Before the trip you sign a participation agreement and confirm your insurance.
What to bring (mandatory)
Touring skis with tech bindings, touring boots, skins, adjustable poles, helmet, 30–40 l backpack; avalanche transceiver (3 antennas), metal shovel and probe (min. 240 cm) – and you must know how to use them. Layers for −5 to −20 °C, waterproof shell, warm and light gloves, goggles and sunglasses, high-SPF sunscreen, headlamp, small thermos and personal medicine.
You should ski confidently off-piste in all snow and have done several ski tours before, including kick turns and skinning for 4–6 hours. This is not a course for beginners.
An experienced local ski touring guide with avalanche training who knows these valleys well. On request we book an IFMGA-certified mountain guide – there are only a few in Kyrgyzstan, so please ask up to a year ahead.
No. Ski touring in Kyrgyzstan is still developing and there is no reliable rental. Please bring your complete equipment, including transceiver, shovel and probe.
Most comfortable with 2–12 skiers: up to 5 guests travel in one minibus, 6–12 in two, always with space for skis and gear. Larger groups up to 20 are possible on request.
The price depends on group size, dates and the guide you choose, so we quote on request. Send us your dates and group size; we confirm the program and send an invoice. Shorter, longer or fully private versions are possible. Book at least a month ahead.
Your guide switches to safer terrain, such as tree runs and lower slopes, or moves the day. The Arabel plateau session on day 7 only happens in good weather. Safety always comes before the plan.
