Birdwatching in Kyrgyzstan – High-Mountain & Wetland Expedition

Birdwatching in Kyrgyzstan offers some of Central Asia’s most spectacular high-altitude birding. This guided expedition takes you from Issyk-Kul’s wetlands to the remote Sary-Jaz valley near the Chinese border, where you can spot Himalayan Snowcock, Lammergeier, Ibisbill, and dozens of rare migratory species in their natural mountain habitat

Kyrgyzstan is one of Central Asia’s most exciting birding destinations. Located along major migration routes and shaped by dramatic elevation changes (700 m – 4,000+ m), the country hosts over 400 recorded bird species, including alpine specialists, steppe raptors, and wetland migrants.
More than 230 species nest in Kyrgyzstan, while others appear during spring and autumn migration or wintering periods.
Among the highlights:
Ibisbill
Himalayan Snowcock
Lammergeier (Bearded Vulture)
Himalayan Vulture

Flamingos and diverse waterfowl at Issyk-Kul
High-altitude eagles and falcons of the Tien Shan
This expedition combines wetlands, alpine meadows, rocky ridges, remote valleys, and nomadic landscapes — ideal for serious birders and wildlife photographers.
Organized by Kyrgyz Tourism, with a strong focus on ecotourism and environmental respect.
