This 11-day birdwatching tour in Kyrgyzstan covers every habitat from 700 m to about 3,800 m. You look for wallcreeper and accentors in Ala-Archa, lammergeier and Himalayan snowcock around Kol-Ukok and Song-Kol, ibisbill and waders on the rivers and shores of Issyk-Kul, and high-altitude raptors in the remote Engilchek and Sary-Jaz valleys near the Chinese border. What to bring. Binoculars, a scope if you have one (your guide brings one), long lens, warm layers for 0 °C mornings, sturdy shoes, sun protection.

Typical targets are Himalayan snowcock, lammergeier, Himalayan griffon, ibisbill, wallcreeper, accentors, rosefinches, Himalayan rubythroat and many raptors; in migration season also waterfowl and waders at Issyk-Kul. Your guide adapts the route to your target list.
June–July for breeding birds in the mountains and the best chance for snowcock; September–October for migration at the lakes. Spring migration (April–May) is possible on request with a changed route.
Yes. Groups are small (2–6), the guide knows where birds sit in good light, and stops are flexible. Bring a long lens and a beanbag for the car.
