A Hidden Gem in the Terskei Ala-Too Mountains
Hidden deep in the heart of the Terskei Ala-Too Mountains, Kol-Ukok Lake rests peacefully between two dramatic alpine slopes. Its poetic name — “Lake in a Chest” — perfectly reflects its location, cradled like a precious treasure among towering peaks.
The lake’s crystal-clear waters are icy cold and reach depths of up to 17 meters. During summer, its shores come alive with vibrant alpine flora — delicate forget-me-nots, bright mountain poppies, and the legendary edelweiss create a natural carpet of colors.
This remote high-mountain destination offers an authentic Kyrgyz experience combining breathtaking scenery, nomadic culture, and gentle adventure.
