ITINERARY

In the morning leave from Osh following the road to Alay region. Crossing the mountain passes Gulcho and Taldyk you will be rise upped to giant mountain range Zaalay cunun. In the middle of the wall the peak Lenin (7 134m) opens the first day impressions of the travel on the way to Pamir. Take the last few hours driving and reach the yurt camp Tulpar –Kol which is located on the slope of peak Lenin offer for you overnight in traditional yurts. Dine and sleep in the yurt.   This day is also very important to have altitude acclimatization.  3-4 hours driving

Breakfast. Today you will cross the border from Kyrgyzstan to Tadjikistan due to the border cross checkpoint Kyzyl-Art. It might take time to cross it for about 1 hour. Then proceed the moving into the Murgab Plato. On the way stop in the village Karakul which is almost on the 4 000m ASL. The area is high and the valley has one of the biggest mountain lake Karakul . In the village, you can have lunch at a local family homestay and have some rest and short sightseeing. Later afternoon drives a little bit down to Murgab village for 3 000m ASL.   The most of inhabitants in Murgab are Kyrgyz nationality and they do livestock.  Descent in the village, accommodation in the local family-run home stay with dinner.

Today time to explore the Murgab Plato. Heading the journey to the village Alichur you will have turn to the east for old Observatory hill from soviet time. The Observatories are not function and abandoned. But the view of the scenery is spectacular and in the good weather, you can see Muztak-Ata peak of China. The area is popular also as a Marco Polo wild sheep lands and there are a lot of skulls of this animal around as a result of human acts (poachers). Afternoon arrival in the last Kyrgyz village Alichur. Accommodation in the family homestay with dinner.

After breakfast travel for Langar. This day takes through wakhan corridor over the pass Khargush. It goes close to china and Afghanistan border which makes sense to have several military post checking. By the way it will be most interesting road along the river Panj which is devoting the area of Afganizstan and Tadjikistan. On another side of the river from Afghanistan part, you may see local community Afghan villages and trade caravans like from Silk-Road ages reaching or arriving from the market Ishkashim. Late afternoon the Langar home stays welcoming us for dinner and overnight.

Today time to take a radial trekking to the slop of the peak Karl-Marks (6 723m) on the mountain range Shahdarin. The trekking trail is well marked and used a lot by local shepherds for feeding their sheep. Take time for sightseeing and wondering with viewpoints for giant Pamir mountains and Hindu Kush. For evening return to the village. Sleep in the homestay.

After breakfast travel for Horog. On the way visit ancient fortress Yamchun and Bibi Fatima mineral hot spring. Arrival in Khorog, accommodation in the hotel. Meals at cafes.

Early morning at 8:00 am after breakfast you will be dropped by transport on the slope of the mountain range Rushan to do radial trekking to the mountain community wildlife village Jsev. It seems the time is stopped here and locals still are going without electricity, cars and modern devices. They do agriculture and livestock traditionally. You will not able to reach this community wildlife village by regular transport. The only small trails go up to the small river and opens for your rise the mountain’s lakes and huge massive snow peaks. Enjoy nature and local culture. Sleep in the local hospitality family home.

Spend the morning time at the place. After late breakfast return to Khorog by walking down till the road where your driver will be waiting for you.

After breakfast drives back to Murgab by short road for 300 km. It will be 6-7 hours driving to Murgab. Lunch picnic in the wild. Arrival in Murgab, accommodation in the guest house with dinner.

Today travel back to Osh. It will be a long day driving in the same way but at the end of the day, you can rest in the Osh hotel. (7-8 hours driving)

After having solved all the questions and programs confirming we issue an invoice for payment. You can make a bank transfer or pay upon your arrival time in Bishkek before the trip starts.

The price of the tour depends on the number of people and the season. According to the request and interest, we can negotiate the optimal price for your budget.

The altitude is high more than 3000m above sea level and dry remote mountain valleys.  We recommend you train with sport or jogging 2-3 times a week in the run-up to your trip

Clothing for hiking in temperatures from +25C to -0C. A detailed kit list will be sent to you when you book on.

We provide you with mineral water where it is available to buy on the way in the village shops when we travel by vehicle. During the trek-days we will not able to carry the much mineral bottled waters, we take water from the springs and rivers for cooking and for tea-coffee after well boiling for sure. For drinking, you can use water filters. We offer you to bring the water purified pills from your side. In Kyrgyzstan and Tadjikistan people used to drink from the rivers and spring source and we don’t use the water filters and any pure file pills. Therefore, you will not able to find the water pure file pills or portable filters in Central Asia.

All overnights during the trekking days will be in tents. We provide you tent/mat upon your request. In the village, you will stay in the family running homestays and the room can be dormitory to share with 2 or 3 persons. SNG supplement room is agreed upon for additional charges. Twin room hotels will be in Osh and Khorog towns.

The basic hints for travelers.

  • During your travel time, please respect local culture, customs, traditions, and religion.
  • Try to buy local products and make a benefit for the local economy.
  • Always give fair prices for lodging, food and other services.
  • Take off your shoes, when entering home or yurt stay.
  • Smoking is prohibited at home.
  • Please share your ideas on food and accommodation preferences.
  • Ask people for photographing them.
  • Be friendly and try to get in contact.
  • Be careful during the evening and night time and aware of mass meetings.
  • Be careful with your documents, money and valuable items.
  • Be aware of pickpockets and strangers at bazaars and streets.
  • If someone asking for documents, wallets or cameras, saying that they are from the police, ask them to go police together.
  • Never give your belongings to strangers.
  • Wear good hiking shoes for outdoor activities.
  • Bring warm waterproof clothes even in summer.
  • Have your torch sunscreen and repellent.
  • Do not drink very cold water from unknown sources.
  • Drinking alcohol at high altitudes is unsafe.
  • If the food fat or not acceptable for you can taste a bit and say thanks.
  • Do not drink cold water after eating out, better hot tea or c It helps in high altitude digestions cases.
  • Wear warm clothes in the mountains, usually after eating out.
  • Bring your medicines and first aid kit.
  • If you feel unsafe or have issues to discuss, please share with your staff, host or tour manager.
  • Collect your litter. Pack up all non-biodegradable rubbish.
  • Please don’t drop cigarette butts or litter.
  • High altitude vegetation is very fragile. Save the environment.
  • Use toilets in nature wherever available. Where are none, stay at least 40-50 m from streams and water sources and bury all waste and paper.
  • Leaving footprints, take just your photographs.
