This 18-day Silk Road tour links three countries in one journey: the canyons and mountain lakes of Kazakhstan, the nomadic highlands of Kyrgyzstan and the blue domes of Uzbekistan. You walk to Kolsay Lake, soak in the hot springs of Altyn-Arashan, ride a horse over a 3,326 m pass to Song-Kol and sleep in a yurt, watch an eagle hunter at Issyk-Kul and wander the walnut forest of Arslanbob — then finish in Bukhara and Samarkand, reached by high-speed train. From Almaty to Tashkent, mid-May to September, for groups of up to 12.

The price is calculated individually: it depends on group size, dates and accommodation level. Send a request and we will prepare an offer for your group.

Moments that stay with you
Borders and visas
You cross two land borders: Kazakhstan → Kyrgyzstan on day 4 and Kyrgyzstan → Uzbekistan on day 12. Many nationalities travel visa-free, but check the rules for your passport before booking.
Luggage
A suitcase is fine — it stays in the vehicle. For the two nights on horseback take a small backpack with warm clothes.
Song-Kol
The lake lies at 3,016 m. Nights in the yurts can be close to 0 °C even in summer, and in May and September colder. Bring a warm layer, hat and rain jacket.
What to bring
Comfortable walking shoes, layers for mountains and hot cities (Uzbekistan can be above 35 °C in summer), clothes that cover shoulders and knees for mosques, sun protection and some cash in local currencies.
The price depends on the group size, dates and hotel level, so we prepare a quote for you. Send us your dates and number of travellers and we reply within 24 hours with a price and detailed program.
We run it for your own group on your dates — classically up to 12 travellers, and up to 24 on request. Travelling as a couple or small party? We can open a departure on your dates and invite other travellers to join. For groups of 12 or more the tour leader travels free.
No. The horses are calm local horses, the pace is a walk and the horsemen help you mount and stay with you all the way. Most guests have never ridden before. Read our 7 basic rules for riding in Kyrgyzstan.
In Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan comfortable vehicles matched to your group size, with 4×4 where the road needs it. In Uzbekistan the train from Andijan and modern high-speed trains between Tashkent, Bukhara and Samarkand. All drivers are experienced professionals.
Average fitness is enough: short hikes of 2–4 hours, two days on horseback and some long drives. The highest point is the Song-Kol pass at 3,326 m, reached on horseback.
