The first World Cup in mountain tourism in Kyrgyzstan’s history has concluded in Osh. This is stated in a press release from the Federation of Sports Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic received by the editorial office.
“Our team, formed only this year, brilliantly took second place in the overall team standings, yielding only to the leaders from the Russian national team,” the message states.
It is noted that the young team faced experienced opponents – masters of sports, multiple world champions.
The guys not only endured the intense competition but also gained invaluable international experience, demonstrating the high potential of Kyrgyz mountain athletes.
One of the important outcomes of the competitions is also the creation of a modern and safe rock climbing route in Osh.
“Thanks to the numerous stationary belay points installed, Mount Kereme-Too can now permanently become a training center for tourists, alpinists, and climbers, as well as a training ground for rescuers and security forces,” the federation said. And they expressed confidence that holding international mountain technique competitions in Kyrgyzstan will become a good and lasting tradition.
