More than 43 thousand tons of garbage and hundreds of kilometers of nets: Issyk-Kul is being cleaned on the president’s orders

Over the past two years, more than 43 thousand tons of garbage and about 400 kilometers of abandoned fishing nets have been lifted from the bottom of the high-mountain lake Issyk-Kul. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan.

Lake cleaning works are carried out by divers of a specialized center on the instructions of the country’s president. This large-scale operation is aimed at restoring the ecological state of Issyk-Kul.
