Tourism Accounts for 10% of Global GDP: EAEU Approves Tourism Development Concept, – Ministry of Economy

**Tazabek** – The Supreme Eurasian Economic Council has approved the Concept for the Development of Tourism in the Eurasian Economic Union, aimed at unlocking the economic potential of the sector, expanding cooperation between EAEU member states, and increasing mutual tourist trips, reports the press service of the Ministry of Economy.

The document was adopted to increase tourism’s contribution to the economies of the Union countries, develop employment, stimulate small and medium-sized businesses, and form competitive tourist products in the Eurasian space.

“According to the World Travel & Tourism Council, in 2024 tourism provided about 10% of global GDP and every tenth job. In the Eurasian Economic Union countries, the sector’s contribution to GDP is about 3%, indicating significant growth potential,” the department added.

The Concept provides for the creation of joint tourist products, the development of Eurasian tourist routes, and increasing the awareness of the tourist potential of EAEU countries in domestic and external markets.

The implementation of the Concept will increase mutual tourist flows, accelerate the development of tourist infrastructure, and enhance the socio-economic impact of the sector in the Union states, the message says.
