Ecotourism in KR is Growing: Incomes of Natural Territories Have Doubled

Incomes from tourism in Kyrgyzstan’s specially protected natural territories grew more than twice as a result of 2025. This was reported by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the KR.

According to the department, receipts from the tourism sector amounted to 37.7 million som. This is 19.3 million som more than the previous year, with growth exceeding 105%.

During the year, 271,254 people visited state nature reserves and state nature parks in Kyrgyzstan. Interest in ecological routes grew by almost 24%.

The bulk of the tourist flow consisted of domestic tourists – about 250,500 Kyrgyz citizens. At the same time, interest from tourists from CIS countries and far abroad is maintained.

The ministry notes that the income growth with a moderate increase in the number of visitors is due to the optimization of tariff policy and improved administration of fees.

In parallel with the development of ecotourism, control over compliance with environmental legislation has been strengthened. Over the year, 139 violations were detected in specially protected natural territories. The total amount of damage caused was about 1.1 million som.

Most cases, about 70%, are related to violations affecting the plant world. At the moment, damage has been recovered to the budget in 78 cases, the rest are at the stage of judicial and administrative proceedings.
