Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan Discussed Tourism Development in the Almaty-Bishkek Corridor

A meeting of the Joint Working Group on Tourism of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan was held in Bishkek as part of the Almaty-Bishkek Economic Corridor (ABEC) initiative. Representatives of the two countries discussed updating joint projects and plans for the development of the tourism industry until 2030.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the State Agency for Tourism Development under the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, the Tourism Industry Committee of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, the Department of Physical Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs of the Bishkek City Hall, as well as the Asian Development Bank.

The main topics were the updated master plan for tourism development of the Almaty-Bishkek Economic Corridor, the Cooperation Plan in the field of tourism until 2030, the introduction of a unified classification system for accommodation facilities, the creation of an Advisory Council and the improvement of professional standards in the industry.

The Bishkek City Hall noted that the city’s participation in such international projects is aimed at expanding cooperation with foreign partners and increasing the tourist attractiveness of the capital. The implementation of joint initiatives should contribute to the development of tourism infrastructure and improving the quality of services for travelers.
