Every year, the number of production studios engaged in creating films and video content is growing in Kyrgyzstan. This is due to the simplified tax system, where the tax is only 4%. This was reported by Almaz Tulekeev, head of “Kyrgyztasmasy”, in an interview for **Kaktus.media**.
According to him, both local and international studios are showing interest in filming in the country. This year, on Kyrgyz soil, Russian films such as “Return of Mendysh” and “We Are from the Future 3” were shot, as well as a project from Lenfilm. In addition, Indian music videos and films, as well as projects from Kazakhstan and Iran, were created.
Tulekeev noted that foreign partners prefer to work with local specialists who speak English, Turkish, and Chinese, who help them organize shoots and provide necessary services.
The natural beauties of Kyrgyzstan, such as Issyk-Kul, mountain peaks, pastures, and waterfalls, are of particular interest to foreign filmmakers. “It’s also worth mentioning the white butterflies, unique to our country. We are currently negotiating with a foreign company about filming dedicated to these butterflies in Talas, using animation and macro photography,” he added.
Tulekeev is confident that thanks to unique locations, tax incentives, and an increase in the number of qualified specialists, Kyrgyzstan holds one of the leading positions in film production in Central Asia.
