BISHKEK, Dec 24 — Sputnik. An international freeride tournament will be held in Kyrgyzstan from January 15 to 17, reports the organizer — the state enterprise “Ala-Too Resort”.
On January 15, training sessions and safety classes will be conducted at the ski base in Karakol. The main competitions are scheduled for January 16 on the territory of the under-construction all-season resort “Ala-Too Resort”.
The tournament will feature athletes and ski enthusiasts from Kyrgyzstan and about 20 other countries. Competitions will take place in the categories “beginners”, “professionals”, and “women”.
According to the organizers, the tournament aims to promote Kyrgyzstan as an international winter tourism destination, demonstrate its potential, develop extreme sports, and stimulate experience exchange between local and foreign athletes.
Freeride involves descending outside the organized routes on winter resorts and without mountain services support.
