The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Adylbek Kasymaliev, congratulated the Kyrgyzstani people on International Mountain Day.
Text of the congratulation:
Dear Kyrgyzstani people!
Dear international partners!
I wholeheartedly congratulate you on International Mountain Day — a day that unites people around the world around the idea of careful attitude to the greatness of mountain nature and responsibility for its preservation.
Today, when climate change is particularly acute in mountainous areas in the form of glacier melting, retreat of snow cover, landslides, snow avalanches, mudflows and floods, forest degradation and loss of biodiversity, the situation in the mountains and the fate of people living among them require decisive actions from us to adapt to climate change and increase the resilience of mountain ecosystems and communities.
In accordance with the initiative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov and the resolution of the UN General Assembly, the Decade of Action for Mountain Development (2023-2027) is being implemented at the global level. Our country continues to make a significant contribution to promoting the mountain agenda on the international arena, strengthening partnerships. At the national level, our state is gradually taking measures to improve the socio-economic living conditions of the population in mountainous regions through infrastructure development, road modernization, digitization of public services, encouraging tourism, agriculture, green economy and energy, as well as expanding the network of social institutions.
On this symbolic day, I call on all citizens, partners and friends of Kyrgyzstan to contribute to the sustainable development of mountains: to adopt nature-oriented decisions, protect the flora and fauna of our mountains, develop innovations, environmental culture and promote international cooperation in these areas.
Preservation of biological diversity, traditional knowledge and way of life in harmony with nature, rational use of natural resources, protection of mountain ecosystems, whether high-mountain jailoo or our glaciers with eternal snows, such careful attitude to the heritage of ancestors is required from us and future generations.
May the mountains continue to give us strength of spirit, inspiration and confidence in tomorrow.
May they remain a symbol of peace, harmony and sustainable future for all peoples.
Happy holiday, dear compatriots!
Happy International Mountain Day!
