Kyrgyzstan is implementing a unified classification system for tourist accommodation facilities. Under this system, hotels and resorts will be assigned “star” categories, guesthouses — “edelweiss”, and yurt camps — “tunduk”.
The classification aims to establish uniform service quality requirements, improve the level of tourist services, and strengthen the competitiveness of the industry.
In connection with the launch of the system, the State Agency for Tourism Development and the Tourism Development Support Fund announced the start of accepting applications from owners of accommodation facilities.
The procedure is voluntary. Based on the assessment results, owners will be able to officially confirm the appropriate level of service, strengthen the trust of tourists and partners, and use the obtained category for promoting their facilities.
Applications can be submitted through a special online platform. After self-assessment and inspection by an expert, the participant will receive a certificate valid for 3 years. Information about classified facilities will be entered into the state register.
