Kyrgyzstan has been visited by 13 million tourists — twice the country’s population

President Sadyr Japarov today published a post on social media dedicated to the development of tourism in the country.

The head of state noted that if before 2020–2021 Kyrgyzstan was visited annually by 2–3 million tourists, today their number has reached 13 million.

“This indicates economic growth, that Kyrgyzstan is becoming more recognizable in the world and attracting more and more foreign guests,” emphasized Sadyr Japarov.

With a population of about 7 million people, the number of tourists is almost twice the number of residents. According to the president, this provides an additional contribution to GDP growth at the level of 4–5%.

Sadyr Japarov called on Kyrgyz citizens to welcome every guest with dignity and treat tourists with respect, since each of them contributes to the country’s economy and improving the well-being of citizens.

“Mineral reserves will eventually be depleted, but tourism will remain. In the future, tourism will become one of the main pillars of Kyrgyzstan’s economy,” the President is confident.

He also recommended mastering the profession of a guide and actively participating in the development of the tourism industry.
