Bishkek, 14.11.25 /Kabar/. Damir Zhumakanov, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Tourism Development at OJSC ‘Kyrgyzstan Tourism Development Support Fund’, spoke on Birinchi Radio about promoting Kyrgyzstan at international tourism exhibitions.
‘Previously, not all Kyrgyz tour operators could afford to participate in international exhibitions due to high costs for renting spaces and preparing stands. Only large tour companies participated. The Fund was designated as the organizer and responsible for conducting events; target countries were selected where we will participate. This year, we participated little in exhibitions, but since the Fund’s creation until this year, there were many such events.
What you see in the news is just the cover. Behind it lies a lot of work: organizational aspects, human factors, sometimes nerves. We show only the result, but the path to it is often very long, requiring diplomatic skills. Consular services and our embassies assist us,’ he said.
Zhumakanov noted that starting next year, participation in exhibitions will be conducted jointly with the Tourism Department.
‘Previously, we did some independently, some jointly with the department. Now we will do everything together. Recently, a working commission meeting was held to determine which exhibitions we will participate in,’ he added.
According to him, next year Kyrgyzstan plans to participate in more than ten international tourism platforms. All commission members participated in the discussion, and decisions on each exhibition were made separately. Zhumakanov noted that each exhibition has its own specifics and goals; decisions were made taking into account the interests of the state, tour operators, and the hotel association.
