In Kyrgyzstan, it is planned to put into operation a modern five-star hotel on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul this summer 2026, which is being built by the Azerbaijani side. This was stated by the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Azerbaijan, Maksat Mamykanov, in an interview with Report. “The construction of a five-star hotel on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul is in the final stage. The hotel is expected to be put into operation this summer. The opening of this modern tourist facility will create conditions for increasing tourist trips from Azerbaijan to Kyrgyzstan and expanding the geography of mutual trips,” he said. Mamykanov noted that in connection with the opening of the hotel, preparatory work has already begun to organize direct seasonal flights from Baku to Tamchy airport on Issyk-Kul: “In the future, with the onset of the winter ski season, these flights could be redirected to the winter tourism capital on Issyk-Kul – the city of Karakol.” He emphasized that the development of air communication between Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan is one of the priority tasks for the two countries. “The frequency of flights (from Baku to Bishkek – ed.) has increased from one flight per week in 2024 to three flights per week in 2025. In 2026, a further increase in tourist flow is expected, which will allow increasing the number of flights from Baku to Bishkek, and in the future – to the southern capital of Kyrgyzstan, the city of Osh, and to Issyk-Kul,” the ambassador added.
