New Tourist Service Center Opened in Balykchy

On November 23, in Balykchy, a grand opening of the Tourist Service Center (TSC) took place, created as part of the “Third Phase of the Program to Improve Regional Connectivity in Central Asia” project. As reported by the Tourism Fund, the center is intended to improve tourist services in the Issyk-Kul region.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the ministries of economy and transport, the presidential plenipotentiary representative in the Issyk-Kul region, as well as representatives of the World Bank and local authorities.

The new center provides tourists with informational support, rest areas, a souvenir mini-market, toilets, parking spaces, and charging stations for electric vehicles. This is one of the facilities in a network of service centers being built along the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul, including in Tyup, Teploklyuchenka, Tosor, and Bokonbayevo.

The project was implemented by the Ministry of Transport and Communications on behalf of the tourism department under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce with the support of the World Bank. In 2024, the facilities were transferred to the management of the Tourism Development Support Fund.

It is expected that the TSC in Balykchy will simplify travel to the region’s resorts, contribute to the growth of tourist flow, the creation of new jobs, and the strengthening of the economic potential of the Issyk-Kul region.
