Tazabek – The accounting of tourists at Lake Song-Kol is carried out through yurt camps and guest houses, however, full monitoring is difficult. This was reported on the radio by Director of the Tourism Department under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce Erdenet Kasymov.
According to him, accommodation facilities keep statistics that are transmitted to tax and statistical authorities.
‘Every yurt camp, guest house keeps records and statistics, which are subsequently provided to tax and statistical authorities. Of course, it will be difficult to fully monitor the number of incoming tourists there, but monthly through guest houses it will be possible to track the number of tourists,’ he said.
Kasymov also noted that environmental issues remain relevant, as there are no full-fledged treatment facilities on the territory.
‘There are no such treatment facilities there, it’s through septic tanks, through traditional methods,’ he said.
According to him, last year he sent appeals to state authorities with a proposal to pay attention to the environmental situation, including conducting research on the state of the environment.
‘It is necessary to conduct expertise and analysis of soil, water, air, because there is an impact on the ecology — a large number of people, plus pastures and livestock. Gradual degradation of the area is occurring,’ noted Kasymov.
Among possible measures, granting the territory a special status is being considered.
