Bishkek prepares for influx of tourists amid SCO summit and Nomad Games

In Bishkek, they discussed the key issue of upcoming international events — how to cope with the expected influx of tourists during the SCO Summit and the VI World Nomad Games. The main emphasis is not just to receive guests, but to competently distribute tourist flows across the country. The Department of Physical Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth Affairs of the capital’s city hall held a working meeting with representatives of the tourism business. The discussion was attended by the department director Kanatbek Mamatov, his deputy Rustam Aleshov, and leading tour operators. The main topic was reducing the load on Bishkek, which traditionally becomes the main point of attraction for tourists. The authorities and business are discussing a scenario in which a significant part of the guests will be directed to the regions — Issyk-Kul, Naryn, Osh, and other tourist locations. The discussion is not only about logistics but also about reformatting the tourist product. Tour operators are encouraged to develop regional routes in advance so that the distribution of flows is managed rather than spontaneous. This approach will solve several tasks at once: avoid overloading the capital’s infrastructure; improve the quality of tourist service; engage the potential of the regions; increase the economic effect of the events for the whole country, not just Bishkek. Special attention is paid to coordination between the state and the private sector. Tour operators will be the key link in managing flows — from forming tours to distributing groups. Following the meeting, the parties agreed to joint work in the lead-up to major international events.
