‘Culture’ (AKIpress) — On April 2, the Center for Traditional Crafts opened at the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after Gapar Aitiev, the Ministry of Culture’s press service reported.
The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy Mirbek Mambetaliyev and Korean Ambassador Kim Kwang-jae.
As part of the project, three such centers are being created across the country — in Issyk-Kul and Naryn regions, as well as in Bishkek. The main goal of the centers is the widespread promotion of traditional crafts, their renewal, and strengthening their role in society.
During the opening ceremony at the Museum of Fine Arts, a tour of the center was organized, and two thematic exhibitions were presented: ‘Textile. The Thread Connecting Time’ and ‘Yurt. From Nomadic Traditions to XXI Century Modernism’.
The center was opened as part of the official development project ‘Development of the Cultural Tourism Industry in the Kyrgyz Republic through Improving Opportunities for the Production of Traditional Crafts and Digital Marketing’ (2023–2026), implemented by Kyrgyzstan and Korea.
