The Higher Eurasian Economic Council has approved the Concept for the Development of Tourism in the Eurasian Economic Union, which defines strategic guidelines for the industry, as well as measures to expand economic cooperation and increase mutual tourist trips between the Union states. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Concept provides for the creation of joint tourist products, the development of Eurasian routes, and increasing awareness of the tourist potential of EAEU countries in domestic and external markets. It is also planned to launch a special section dedicated to tourism on the Union’s portal.
Tourism is an important factor in economic growth and employment. According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, in 2024 the industry accounted for about 10% of global GDP and became a source of every tenth job. In EAEU countries, the share of tourism in GDP is about 3%, indicating high potential for further development.
The implementation of the Concept will increase the mutual tourist flow, increase the contribution of the tourism sector to the economy, and stimulate the development of infrastructure and employment in the Union states.
