The official visit of Albanian President Bajram Begaj to Kyrgyzstan indicates Europe’s growing geopolitical interest in the Central Asian region. Economist Uran Sydygaliev said this on June 18 on the radio.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan still finds it difficult to compete with large European economies. In this context, Albania acts as a more accessible but promising European partner.
“Our entrepreneurs and artisans can find new markets for exports there, and Albanian businessmen, seeing Issyk-Kul, the mountains, and the tourism potential of Kyrgyzstan, can offer attractive investment projects,” noted U. Sydygaliev.
He emphasized that Kyrgyzstan should adopt Albania’s successful experience in tourism, where mountain landscapes, historic cities, and corresponding infrastructure are being developed. According to him, active work by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries is necessary to launch this process.
He also noted Albania’s economic indicators and technological development. The country’s territory is significantly smaller than Kyrgyzstan’s, but its GDP volume is noticeably higher.
“Albania is actively promoting digital solutions and artificial intelligence in public administration. Since Kyrgyzstan is also pursuing a course of digitalization, the exchange of experience in this area is extremely important. We can adopt their successful practices in the economy and public administration,” the expert added.
He also added that regional associations currently play a major role in world politics and economics.
“Central Asia is gradually becoming an independent region. If we act as a united front, the world community will cooperate with us even more actively,” the economist said.
