International Alpinada to be held in Kyrgyzstan

On May 1, an international alpinada will take place in Kyrgyzstan. This was announced by the head of the information policy service of the presidential administration, Dairbek Orunbekov. According to him, representatives from 20 countries will participate in the event, with a total of more than 2,000 participants expected. The alpinada will start in the Chunkurchak gorge and continue with an ascent to a new peak of 4,010 meters, which currently bears the name ‘Alpinada Peak.’ Dairbek Orunbekov noted that our country has great potential for the development of mountain tourism, which is considered one of the most profitable directions in the world. According to him, tourists are ready to spend significant amounts on ascents and expeditions, including conquering mountain peaks. The head of the information policy service emphasized that the republic has unique conditions for the development of various types of mountain tourism — from hiking and trekking to alpinism, ice climbing, and expedition routes. In Kyrgyzstan, peaks ranging from 4,000 to 7,500 meters are concentrated. It is also noted that the Ak-Sai gorge is already a popular training base for climbers, including foreigners. The authorities believe that such events will promote the country’s tourist potential and attract more foreign guests.
