From April 24 to 26, the Kyrgyzstan Championship in sports tourism on mountain distances will take place in the Chunkurchak gorge. This was reported by the Federation of Sports Tourism of Kyrgyzstan.
Teams of tourists and climbers from all regions of the republic, as well as specialized rescue alpine squads of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, will participate in the competitions.
Athletes will have to complete a challenging 4th class mountain distance: ascents, descents and traverses along sheer cliffs, as well as stages of rescue and transport works. These include providing first aid, making stretchers, organizing a hanging crossing and transporting a conditional victim across a mountain river.
The development of sports mountain tourism is especially important for Kyrgyzstan – a country with enormous mountain potential. This is not only sports, but also safety, personnel training and involving youth in an active life.
