Ahead of the destination forum ‘New Prospects for Tourism Development,’ which will take place on June 5 at the State Residence of the Kyrgyz Republic, a delegation of tour operators from Germany representing the Deutscher Reiseverband (DRV) – the leading association of the German tourism industry – arrived in the country on May 30.
The visit of such a high-level delegation has become a significant step in strengthening international cooperation and promoting the Kyrgyz Republic as a unique tourism destination in the European market.
The DRV destination forum is organized by the Kyrgyz Association of Tourism Organizations in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and is taking place in the Kyrgyz Republic from May 30 to June 6, 2025. Active participation in the preparation and conduct of the forum was also taken by the Agency for Community Development and Investment (ARIS) and GIZ, which ensured logistics, development of the regional program, and promotion of initiatives in the field of sustainable tourism.
The reception of the delegation and the organization of the tour around the country were provided by the Tourism Development Support Fund of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, and the Kyrgyz Association of Tour Operators (KATO).
The first day of the visit began with an orientation program in Bishkek, after which the delegation headed to Balykchy on a VIP train of the State Enterprise ‘Kyrgyz Temir Zholu,’ where the guests were solemnly welcomed by the city mayor and given a tour. The delegation then visited a number of regions – Issyk-Kul, Osh, Jalal-Abad, Tokmak, Chon-Kemin, and Kochkor – where they familiarized themselves with the cultural heritage, natural attractions, and tourism potential of the country.
At all stages of the trip, the German delegation was accompanied by representatives of the Tourism Fund, the Department of Tourism, KATO, and GIZ, providing informational and logistical support, organizing meetings, excursions, and cultural programs.
The guests highly appreciated the tourism potential of Kyrgyzstan, particularly noting opportunities for active, eco, and cultural tourism. DRV representatives expressed confidence in the prospects of the direction and interest in further developing joint projects.
The upcoming forum ‘New Prospects for Tourism Development’ will become a key platform for discussing cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the international tourism community. Organizers emphasize that the visit confirms the growing interest of European tour operators and contributes to promoting the country in the global tourism market.
The DRV delegation’s visit opens new horizons for the development of the tourism industry in the Kyrgyz Republic, strengthening its positions on the global stage and stimulating the development of sustainable and competitive tourism in the country.
