In Kyrgyzstan, plans are underway to update the tourism law and introduce licensing for tourist companies and certification for guides. This was reported by Erdenet Kasymov, Director of the Tourism Department under the Ministry of Economy. According to him, the law adopted in 1999 is outdated and does not account for the modern realities of the industry. Currently, the market operates chaotically: guides from other countries conduct excursions in Kyrgyzstan, bloggers organize tours for foreigners, and cases of fraud involving fly-by-night companies are becoming more frequent. The new edition of the law will protect the domestic market, improve service quality, and allow Kyrgyz specialists to work in their country. It is also planned to normatively consolidate areas such as alpinism, which are not regulated today. The measures are part of the updated tourism industry program, one of the priorities of the National Development Program until 2030.
