Tourism services export (income from receiving foreigners) in Kyrgyzstan for 2025 amounted to $1 billion 98.5 million. Compared to 2024, it increased by 8.1 percent, according to the National Statistical Committee’s report.
The tourism industry of the republic demonstrated confident financial growth last year. According to preliminary estimates, the gross added value in this sector amounted to 74.4 billion soms. The share of tourism in the GDP structure increased to 3.8 percent (previously — 3.6 percent).
Tourism services export, reflecting income from receiving foreigners, reached $1 billion 98.5 million, which is 8.1 percent more than in 2024.
Expenses of Kyrgyzstanis on trips abroad (import of services) amounted to $564 million.
The dynamics of revenue in various service segments were uneven. The largest growth was shown by sanatorium-resort services — their volume increased by 32.2 percent (to 2.4 billion soms).
Restaurants and catering enterprises earned 26.1 billion soms, improving the result by 20.9 percent. Hotel income amounted to 11.1 billion soms, and tourist transportation brought 17.3 billion.
As of January 1, 2026, 148.1 thousand business entities related to tourism were registered in the republic. The overwhelming majority — 87.1 percent, or 129 thousand people — work as individual entrepreneurs.
Geographically, business is concentrated in Bishkek (33.8 thousand entities), Osh region (21 thousand) and Osh (19.5 thousand).
In the resort area of Issyk-Kul region, 3.2 thousand enterprises providing recreation and leisure services are officially registered.
The guest reception infrastructure in 2025 included 842 specialized institutions and 2,316 guest houses. The country had 388 hotels, 98 boarding houses, 17 sanatoriums and 102 travel agencies.
Production of related goods grew by 26.7 percent. In particular, the production of national drinks and mineral waters increased to 4.5 billion soms.
The total number of accommodated tourists in the organized sector reached 1 million 780 thousand people, which is 1.5 times higher than in 2024. The unorganized sector (private sector and guest houses) received 1 million 736 thousand people.
Through travel agencies, 74 thousand people went on trips. The main part — citizens of Kyrgyzstan traveling around the republic and abroad.
Despite the growth in operating income, investment activity in the sector has slowed down.
More than 19 billion soms were invested in the construction and reconstruction of tourist facilities, which is 3.3 percent less than in 2024. The share of investments in tourism in the total volume of investments in fixed capital decreased from 8.5 to 5.2 percent. The main funds of the cabinet of ministers and the private sector were directed to road repairs, updating the hotel fund and developing natural parks.
Tourism development remains one of the priorities of Kyrgyzstan’s economic policy. According to the World Bank’s forecast, the services sector, including tourism, acts as a key driver of economic growth stabilization at 5.5 percent.
