By decree of President Sadyr Japarov, the State Agency for Tourism Development has been established under the Cabinet of Ministers.
The state agency was created on the basis of the tourism department under the Ministry of Economy. At the same time, the composition of the National Tourism Development Council has been changed.
The creation of a separate agency confirms the increased attention of the state to the tourism sector, which is considered one of the priority areas of the economy. Recall that in 2025, Kyrgyzstan’s tourism industry crossed the $1 billion mark in export revenue for the first time. According to the National Statistical Committee, revenues from tourism service exports amounted to $1 billion 980 million, an increase of 8.1% compared to 2024.
In recent years, Kyrgyzstan has been actively promoted as a tourist destination.
Separating tourism into an independent structure may accelerate decision-making and increase the efficiency of attracting investments and implementing infrastructure projects.
