Tourist season increased flow through Ak-Zhol checkpoint to 20 thousand people per day

Bishkek, 15.07.26 /Kabar/. About 20 thousand people pass daily through the Ak-Zhol — Road checkpoint due to the tourist season. This was reported by the head of the Ak-Zhol — Road checkpoint Azat Mamatkulov.

According to him, approximately 10 thousand people cross the border from both Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan sides.

“Since the beginning of summer, about 10–13 thousand people crossed the state border daily. Now the flow has increased because the tourist season has begun, people are going to Issyk-Kul. A flow of people is also expected in connection with the SCO events and the World Nomad Games,” Mamatkulov said.

He noted that the maximum throughput this year was recorded during the May holidays, when the flow reached 25 thousand people. This was related to citizens’ trips to Almaty and Tashkent.

He noted that currently 8-10 passport control booths are operating in the registration halls, and there are no queues at the checkpoint.
