Where, When, and How the VI WNG Will Take Place – Format Details

Bishkek, 15.01.26 /Kabar/. The VI World Nomad Games in 2026 will take place in two locations: the opening will be in Bishkek, and the main competitions on Issyk-Kul. According to the director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazybek Moldazhiev, the opening ceremony is scheduled for August 31 at the under-construction ‘Bishkek-Arena’ stadium and will coincide with the anniversary SCO summit. On September 1, all participants will be organized to Cholpon-Ata for accommodation, competitions will start on September 2 and last until September 6. The closing of the Games will also take place in Cholpon-Ata. The main venues for the Games are 4 locations: hippodrome, Gazprom sports complex, Rukh Ordo ethno-complex, and Kyrchyn. The World Nomad Games program covers eight major areas: national games of the world’s peoples; horse races; equestrian competitions; national wrestling; traditional strength sports; intellectual games; shooting from traditional bows; national hunting with birds of prey and dogs. According to the head of the International Secretariat of the World Nomad Games, Nursultan Adenov, in addition to the sports program, a wide cultural block is planned. It will include evening concerts, an international ethnic festival with the participation of about 40 countries, where the culture of the world’s peoples will be presented in directions such as ethno-hit, ethno-fashion, ethno-dances, and ethno-storytelling art. “Kyrgyzstan will create an atmosphere of traditional ethnic culture for the whole world, into which tourists can immerse themselves for a whole week,” noted Adenov. Exhibition tourist zones are also planned, which will become an additional tool for promoting Kyrgyzstan’s tourism potential.
