What to See and Do
The main place to visit is the Manas Ordo historical and cultural complex. Situated 22 km from Talas town, at Tash-Aryk village. The central monument of the complex is a mausoleum of Manas hero. Scientists say that this is mausoleum dated from 1334, burial site of Abuk Emir’s daughter. That inscription found in the basement of the building. But it says that false writing to keep the Manas hero burial site. Very interesting local museum, special places for worshiping and blessings.
Besh-Tash National Park keeps the territory of 32.000 hectares. Possible to see mountain lake of Besh-Tash. The rich list of wild nature species, mammals, flora, and fauna. Special sites with mountain petroglyphs.
Ur-Maral Gorge is a part of the National Park, with the same-named mountain river. The beautiful and untouched nature will charm visitors.
Manas Peak of high 4482 m asl. This is one of the technically hard peaks for alpinists and sacral symbol of highness.
Kirov water reservoir was constructed in 1975, as an irrigation solution for Talas region and Kazakhstan. The length is 256 m, height of 86 and a depth of 7 meters.
How to Get Around
The cheapest way to catch a night bus from the Western Bus station. It goes every evening approximate time of departure from 20.00-23.00. The ticket price is about 350 soms, about 5 USD. The distance of 5-6 hours’ drive. Detailed information at the office of the Bus station.
The popular shared taxi service goes from the same Western Bus Station. Price per person per seat is started from 650 soms, 10 USD.
