Winter adventure in Kyrgyzstan.

Kyrgyzstan is a mountain country (96%) and the weather changes very quickly in the mountains. The main season for adventure and culture tour programs is offering in the summertime but there are still a lot of things and places explore as well as in wintertime. Kyrgyzstan is beauty in all 4 seasons for visiting.  Wintertime is also convenient for travelers to do round trips around the Issyk-Kul region and have experience with traditional culture, nature sightseeing, entertainments and so on.

Roads in some valleys and mountains of dust and shakes. Kyrgyz economy based on a cash system and any money cards “Visa, MasterCard” etc does not access except on the cities (Bishkek, Karakol, Osh, Cholpon-Ata…).The cuisine is very diverse; the basic ration writes meats and vegetables. But very little selection of vegetarian dishes for vegetarians.

ITINERARY

Bishkek

Arrival at Bishkek airport. Airport transfer, accommodation in the hotel. Rest time. Meals at café in Bishkek and optional to do city tour if your arrival time in the morning. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Bishkek – KyzylOi village

After breakfast travel for Kyzyl-Oi village due Suusamyr valley. Arrival in the village for late lunchtime. Welcome to the local family homestay. Sightseeing around, optional to do horseback riding in the village. Meals and overnight in the family homestay

Kyzyl-Oi village – Kochkor

Today travel for Kochkor village via Jumgal region. Arrival in the village Kochkor and accommodation in the next family homestay with meals. In Kochkor you can visit the local felt master house to have a workshop on how to make a Kyrgyz traditional felt carpets Shirdak and Alakyiz. Dinner and overnight in the homestay.

Kochkor – Bokonbay

After breakfast travel for Bokonbaevo. Here you can meet the Golden Eagle hunters. Demonstration of the eagle hunting show and traditional archery shows. Lunch at local yurt making master house where you can also explore the secret of making the Kyrgyz traditional yurts. Dinner and accommodation in the guest house with folklore show and new year celebration.

Bokonbay – Barskoon

Today discover the natural beauties like Fairytale canyon Skazka, Barskoon waterfall, and Arabel Plato. Short hiking and lunch picnic in the wild. Late afternoon arrival in Barskoon, accommodation in the local homestay.

Barskoon –Karakol

After breakfast travel for Karakol. On the way visit Jeti-Oguz gorge. For the lunch stop in the local Dungan family house in the village Irdyk. Arrival in Karakol, city tour and accommodation in the guest house with dinner and celebration of the new year 2020.

Karakol – Jyrgalan

Travel to the village Jyrgalan. On the way visit Aksuu hot thermal bath. Welcome to the local hospitality family homestay and sightseeing around the village Jyrgalan. The village is located in the village and surrounded by beautiful mountains and deep snow until 2 meters. Welcome to the local family homestay with meals.

Yurt Camp –Karakol

Spend morning time at the place and after late breakfast transfer by snowmobile back to the village Jyrgalan and further transfer by car to Karakol. Accommodation in the guest house. Meals at cafes

Karakol

After late breakfast transfer for Karakol ski base for skiing or take a cable to lift to the panorama view of Karakol area from 3100m above sea level. By evening return to Karakol. Accommodation in the guest house with dinner.

Karakol – ChongKemin

Travel for Chong Kemin valley following the northern lakeshore of Issyk-Kul. On the way stop in Cholpon-Ata to see the petroglyphs. Arrival in the valley Chong-Kemin late afternoon and take a road into the gorge to Kok-Archa mountain hut. You will be welcomed with the local forester family. Dinner and overnight in the beautiful place surrounding by Christmas tree forest.  You may see wild animals like deers, wild boar, pheasant…

Chong-Kemin – Bishkek

After late breakfast travel for Bishkek. On the way visit Burana tower from 11th centuries. Arrival in Bishkek lunchtime. Shopping, visiting the Osh market and farewell dinner at local ethnic restaurant Supara.

Winter temperatures in Kyrgyzstan will be quite cold in the mountain valleys from +5 C to -25C. A detailed kit list will be sent to you when you book on.

  • During your travel time, please respect local culture, customs, traditions, and religion.
  • Try to buy local products and make a benefit for the local economy.

  • Take off your shoes, when entering home or yurt stay.
  • Smoking is prohibited at home.
  • Please share your ideas on food and accommodation preferences.
  • Ask people for photographing them.
  • Be friendly and try to get in contact.
  • Be careful during the evening and night time and aware of mass meetings.
  • Be careful with your documents, money and valuable items.
  • Be aware of pickpockets and strangers at bazaars and streets.
  • If someone asking for documents, wallets or cameras, saying that they are from the police, ask them to go police together.
  • Never give your belongings to strangers.
  • Wear good hiking shoes for outdoor activities.
  • Bring warm waterproof clothes even in summer.
  • Have your torch sunscreen and repellent.
  • Do not drink very cold water from unknown sources.
  • Drinking alcohol at high altitudes is unsafe.
  • If the food fat or not acceptable for you can taste a bit and say thanks.
